Pikey Peak’s trekking trail is a famous trekking trail in the Everest region which offers the superb view of the mountains, such as Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Manaslu, Mt. Gaurishanker, Mt. Numbur, Mt. Thamserku, and which takes us to rhododendron, magnolia, and orchid forest.

An ascending trekking trail from a high ridge takes us to an open landscape in between the mountains, traditional Sherpa villages and to the root of the Tibetan culture. Dudh Kund (lake) and Buddhist monasteries that the trekking trail of Pikey Peak takes us is a perfect combination of the holy and easy trek.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu, meet at the airport and transfer to Hotel.

Upon arrival at the Tribhuwan International Airport, a representative from Himalayan Waves carrying a placard will receive you. Private transportation to the office or directly to the hotel if arrival is late at night is arranged by the representative. At the office we proceed to discuss about the travel plans and introduce the trek guide through a meeting. We recommend you to bring your passport along with 3 passport sized photos and a readable copy of the travel insurance to swiftly proceed with permit papers and other arrangements. During the meet, you can also ask the guide and the manager any questions regarding the trip. Any overdue balance is to be cleared along with the filling of legally binding trip form and non-liability disclaimer form. Overnight stay in a hotel (Bed And Breakfast).


Day 02: Drive Kathmandu to Bhandar (2190m) by bus, Stay at Camp

In the morning, a bus will take us to Bhandar via Jiri. The road is a single lane road and offers the view of the Kosi River, as well as of the panoramic view of the Himalayas.

Day 03: Goli (1760 m) overnight in a tented camp

We head off to Goli, a VDC (village development committee)

Day 04: Kinggurding Gumba (2740 m) overnight in a tented camp

We trek to Chuplung Bhanjyang. From here, we walk on a steep trekking trail to Ramding Danda. Then, we walk through beautiful forest to Kinggurding Gumba, a monastery.

Day 05: Taklung-Lhamuje (3500 m) overnight in a tented camp

We trek along the Ramding and Taklung Danda ridgeline; The trekking trail goes through forest,, open space, above tree line, passing through summer pasture and offering superb views of Gaurishanker and Numbur Himal Ranges

Day 06: Acclimatization day and visit Thulo Gumba (3800 m overnight in a tented camp)

Day 07: Pikey Peak Base Camp (3640 m) overnight in a tented camp

Today, we reach the base camp of the Pikey peak and prepare for the climbing the peak. we enjoy the surrounding view from the base camp.

Day 08: Pikey Peak (4065m ) Hiking and visit Naur Village (3350 m) overnight in a tented camp

From the top of Pikey, we see Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu and some smaller peaks.

Day 09: Lamjura Phedi (3736m) overnight in a tented camp

From here onwards the walking will be cooler, starting with steep climb through the beautiful rhododendron, oaks and pines forests, then coming to a small settlement of Ghurasey in the middle of a lovely forest, with few teahouses, from here journey continues up to a ridge marked by a mani-wall the way leads left to reach the pass, after a rest trek leads to Lamjura-la pass at 3,550m the highest altitude gain so far.

Day 10: Phurteng (3040 m) overnight in a tented camp

Phurteng is a populated locality and is located in Sagarmāthā Zone, Eastern Region, Nepal.

Day 11: Sarkaripati (3503m) overnight in a tented camp

We proceed to Sarkaripati.

Day 12: Saharsbeni (3835m) overnight in a tented camp

We start our day with a visit at Shengeephuk cave where we see palm imprint on stone. Afterwards we walk through alpine forests and we get closer view of mountains. On the way to Saharsbeni.

Day 13: Dudh Kund (4561m) overnight in a tented camp

Today, we arrive at the mountain glacier, Lake Dudhkunda, from here we have a close view of the mountains. If we had trekked in August , we would have observed Janai Purnima, one of the important festivals of the Hindu Nepalese.

Day 14: Excursion around Dudh Kund (lake) overnight in a tented camp

Lake site situated at the foot of Numbur Himal, (mountain) locally known as Shorong Yul Lha, meaning "Protector of Solu ". Lake is believed to have religious significance.

Day 15: Shengeephuk (3940m) overnight in a tented camp

We trek to Shengeephuk. Observe wildlife and vegetation on the way. Visit Thuptenchholing Monastery. Observe Traditional Tibetan Medicinal Therapy at Thuptenchholing. visit Phunmoche Monastery and Meditation cave.

Day 16: Thupten Chholing Gumba overnight in a tented camp

Thubten Choling Monastery was founded by Trulshi Rinpoche, a high Nyingmapa Lama, after he left Tibet in 1959, following the Chinese occupation of Tibet. Five hundred monks and nuns are currently living in Thubten Choling..

Day 17: Junbesi (2700m) overnight in a tented camp

From the trekking trail of the Junbesi Valley, we see sunrise view and mountain peaks from Kanchenjunga to Dhaulagiri including Everest.

Day 18: Goyam (3220m) overnight in a tented camp

We trek to Goyam

Day 19: Sete-Goli Gumba (2800m) overnight in a tented camp

We descend to Sete, walking through deep forests, crossing a few streams, and reaching the villages called Dokharpa and Baranda From there, we climb through the forests and follow the winding trekking-route up to the Surma Khola (river). We further trek to the Likhu Khola Valley, climb the ridges, and reach Kenja. Ahead is a steep ascent which takes us to Chimbu and Sete.

Day 20: Namkili-Bamti-Deorali (2705m) overnight in a tented camp

A few hours climb leads to Deurali, a small hamlet from where one can see Dudh Kunda Himal, Khatanga, Karylung and Peekye. Then the trail goes down for ½ hour to Bhandar, a Sherpa village with two stupas and a small monastery..

Day 21: Drive Deorali – Kathmandu by bus and evening farewell dinner overnight in a hotel

Farewell dinner will be organized in a typical restaurant with Nepali cultural dances and folk songs.

Day 22: Departure to connect next destination or you may extend the trip as per your desire and time

We are picked up from the hotel and transferred to Tribhuwan International Airport three hours before our flight.
