Trip Overview

The itinerary of the Muktinath Thorong La Trek makes us step into the city of temples, it also takes us to the windiest place of Nepal, and its trail also traverses one of the highest passes of Nepal, and it also takes us to the religious places of the Hindus and the Buddhists.

After this trek, we step into the city of lakes. Between the start and the end of this trek, we see the stunning view of the Himalayas and the Tibetan landscapes, we also walk on the slopes of the trekking trail, we also see the spectacular rock, rising 1500 from the river bed, above all, we see the magnificent view of the Annapurna ranges. Please contact us for the final trip quotation.


Outline Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu, meet at the airport and transfer to Hotel. Overnight at lodge.
  • Day 02: Drive Kathmandu – Bhulbhule (840 m) by tourist bus (6 hrs). Overnight at lodge.
  • Day 03: Syange (1100 m, 6 hrs). Overnight at lodge.
  • Day 04: Dharapani (1860 m, 7 hrs). Overnight at lodge.
  • Day 05: Chame (2700 m, 6 hrs). Overnight at lodge.
  • Day 06: Pisang (3200 m, 6 hrs). Overnight at lodge.
  • Day 07: Manang (3400 m, 7 hrs). Overnight at lodge.
  • Day 08: Acclimatization day. Overnight at lodge.
  • Day 09: Yak Kharka (4018m, 4 hrs). Overnight at lodge.
  • Day 10: Thorong Phedi ( 4500 m, 4 hrs). Overnight at lodge.
  • Day 11: Cross Thorong La (5416 m, 8 hrs), trek to Muktinath (3800 m). Overnight at lodge.
  • Day 12: Jomsom (2800 m, drive 1 hr). Overnight at lodge.
  • Day 13: Fly Jomsom – Pokhara (20 mins)– Kathmandu (30 mins). Overnight at hotel.
  • Day 14: Kathmandu – leisure day and farewell dinner. Overnight at hotel.
  • Day 15: Departure to connect next destination or you may extend the trip as per your desire and time
Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu, meet at the airport and transfer to Hotel. Overnight at lodge.

Upon arrival at the Tribhuwan International Airport, a representative from Himalayan Waves carrying a placard will receive you. Private transportation to the office or directly to the hotel if arrival is late at night is arranged by the representative. At the office we proceed to discuss about the travel plans and introduce the trek guide through a meeting. We recommend you to bring your passport along with 3 passport sized photos and a readable copy of the travel insurance to swiftly proceed with permit papers and other arrangements. During the meet, you can also ask the guide and the manager any questions regarding the trip. Any overdue balance is to be cleared along with the filling of legally binding trip form and non-liability disclaimer form. Overnight stay in a hotel (Bed And Breakfast).


Day 02: Drive Kathmandu – Bhulbhule (840 m) by tourist bus (6 hrs). Overnight at lodge.

In the morning, we leave our guest house for Bhulbhule, and we pass the Trishuli River and the Marsyangdi River.

Day 03: Syange (1100 m, 6 hrs). Overnight at lodge.

The trekking trail drops steeply from Bahundanda. There is a large waterfall in Bahundanda.

We cross the Marsyangdi River on a suspension bridge and head off to Syange.

Day 04: Dharapani (1860 m, 7 hrs). Overnight at lodge.

The trekking trail descends to the Marsyangdi River and follows the riverbank and climbs up through the forest.

We cross the river, and then we re-cross the river, and then we head off to Dharapani.

Day 05: Chame (2700 m, 6 hrs). Overnight at lodge.

The trekking trail runs on the steep slope, as well as on the forested ridges. We see several landslides, including the stunning view of the Lamjung peak, Annapurna II, and Annapurna IV.

Day 06: Pisang (3200 m, 6 hrs). Overnight at lodge.

The trekking trail goes up and down on the slopes, passes by several rivers and passes through small settlements. We cross a bridge, and then we ascend to the Manang Valley.

Paungda Danda that we come across is impressive. From the trekking tail, we also see the beautiful view of Annapurna II and Pisang Peak. As we enter the Manang Valley, there is a dramatic change in the landscape.

Day 07: Manang (3400 m, 7 hrs). Overnight at lodge.

As we head off to Manang, we see the outstanding view of Annapurna, Pisang Peak, and others.

As we are about to reach Manang, we reach the windy and dry area. On the way, we enter the Barge Monastery

Day 08: Acclimatization day. Overnight at lodge.

One of the important phases of high altitude trekking is acclimatization for the gradual exposure to altitude. We walk over to nearby hills and get back as a good acclimatization training for the day.

Day 09: Yak Kharka (4018m, 4 hrs). Overnight at lodge.

Today, we trek uphill through Gunsang before we reach Yak Kharka. We see the breathtaking view of Gangapurna (7454m) and Annapurna III (7555m).

Stay overnight in a lodge. (Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided)


Day 10: Thorong Phedi ( 4500 m, 4 hrs). Overnight at lodge.

From Yak Kharka, we head off to Letdar (4250m). Then, we follow the bank of the Jarsang Khola (river) which is an uphill climb, before we reach Thorung Phedi (4450m), the "foot of the hill”.

Day 11: Cross Thorong La (5416 m, 8 hrs), trek to Muktinath (3800 m). Overnight at lodge.

We wake up early in the morning because we are going to climb the pass. We also carry our pack lunch.

The steep elevation of the pass is challenging. From the top of the pass, we see the majestic view of the Himalayas, as well as the breathtaking view of the Tibetan landscape. Leaving the Himalayas, we head off to Muktinath.

Day 12: Jomsom (2800 m, drive 1 hr). Overnight at lodge.

We drive to Jomsom in a jeep.

Day 13: Fly Jomsom – Pokhara (20 mins)– Kathmandu (30 mins). Overnight at hotel.

We fly from Jomsom, the windiest place of Nepal to Pokhara, the city of lakes and Kathmandu, the city of temples.

Stay overnight in a hotel. (Breakfast provided)


Day 14: Kathmandu – leisure day and farewell dinner. Overnight at hotel.

In the evening, we will be invited for a farewell dinner with cultural show.

Day 15: Departure to connect next destination or you may extend the trip as per your desire and time

We are picked up from the hotel and transferred to Tribhuwan International Airport three hours before our flight.
