In Nepal, mountain biking tour has been designed to take bikers on the trekking trail of the Himalayas; it introduces bikers to the culture and lifestyle of the people, who live in the remotest mountainous regions in Nepal. It is very much popular amongst the bikers cum adventurers. Besides including the trekking trail of the Himalayas, mountain biking tour also includes easy trails that are in and around The Valley of Kathmandu. Nepal is one of the best mountain biking destinations in the world because it is a mountainous country with breathtaking mountains view. The biking trail goes upward and downward; it is challenging, its trail passes through a forest, crosses over a high pass and reaches the base of a famous mountain.

Best Time for Mountain Biking in Nepal.

  • Winter (Nov-Jan) – One of the best time to bike in low altitudes in Nepal as the sky is clear.
  • Spring (Feb-Apr) – Another best time to bike in any altitude of Nepal as the weather remains moderate.
  • Summer (May-July) – Good for biking at high altitudes, such as the Mustang area where there is no rainfall.
  • Fall (Aug-Oct) – Generally good for biking at high altitudes

Biking Grades

Each biking tour is classified on the basis of the grades given below.

  1. Easy – No biking trails are 100% flat; of course, there are some ascents and descents.
  2. Moderate – Ideal for occasional cyclists.
  3. Strenuous – Suitable for fit & confident riders. Fitness is more important than ethnical ability for trips of this level, and some specific training or preparation is recommended, e.g. running, cycling, swimming or aerobics two to three times a week (preferably cycling!)
  4. Tough – Long cycling days and tougher terrain (for both on- and off-road trips) requiring specific experience of more demanding and technical cycling.
  5. Very Tough – Experienced, fit cyclists and above who are happy to undertake a more expedition-style tour. Off-road experience is essential, including riding on rough, steep surfaces and single-track. Itineraries will include long cycling with basic facilities on high altitudes. High level of fitness required.

Trip inclusive of a Mountain Biking:

  • The bike brands, such as Cube, Trek and Giant hard tail or full-suspension bikes, depending on your choice
  • The required number of local staff and porters to carry your luggage during the trip in a rural remote mountainous region (Himalayan Waves assigns one porter for every biker).
  • Helmet
  • First Aid Kit
  • Meal will be provided in a remote Himalayan region.
  • Only breakfast will be provided while biking in and around the Valley of Kathmandu.
  • Accommodation will be provided while biking in and around the Valley of Kathmandu.
  • Park permits, including TIMS for a biking in a remote region.
  • All government taxes and official expenses.
