Essence of the place is in the lifestyle and the remoteness of the valley. Ladakh is also known as the land of high passes.

Previously, Ladakh used to be the most important route for central Asian trade. King of Old Tibet used to rule the kingdom of Ladakh. King Sengge Namgyal, during 17th century expanded the territory across spiti and mayumla on the west continuing further to mount Kailash and Mansarovar. He was the famous ruler of that time. People here follows the Tibetan tradition.

Beautiful Mountain ranges of The Himalayan and the Karakorum hides the valley in its lap and enrich the beauty. Altitude range of Ladakh lies in-between (9,000 ft. – 21,170 ft.) with a very thin population of 270,126 people (Census 2001).
