Trip Overview

Pisang Peak Expedition shows us the beautiful view of mountains, such as Annapurna II, Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, Lamjung Himal, Gundang, Thorung peak, Khatungkan, including Tilicho lake. Its itinerary takes us to the summit of 6091 m, crosses the pass of 5415 m and traverses the windiest place of Nepal, makes us step into both the city of lakes and the city of temples.

Also, it takes us to lower Pisang, where there is an abundance of good views. From Manang, we see a breath-taking view of the Himalayas and notice an amazing landscape in the Annapurna region, as well as we, experience a completely different tradition and culture that we have never seen in other parts of the world.


Outline Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu, meet at the airport and transfer to Hotel
  • Day 02: Drive Kathmandu – Bhulbhule (840m) by tourist bus (6 hrs)
  • Day 03: Start trekking, overnight at Jagat (1300 m, 5hrs)
  • Day 04: Dharapani (1860m, 6hrs)
  • Day 05: Chame (2760 m)
  • Day 06: Pisang (3200 m, 6hrs)
  • Day 07: Kharka Base Camp (4110 m, 6hrs)
  • Day 08: South West Ridge High Camp (5420m, 5.5hrs)

  • Day 20: Kathmandu – leisure day and evening farewell dinner
  • Day 21: Departure to connect next destination or we may extend the trip as per our desire and time
Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu, meet at the airport and transfer to Hotel

Upon arrival at the Tribhuwan International Airport, a representative from Himalayan Waves carrying a placard will receive you. Private transportation to the office or directly to the hotel if arrival is late at night is arranged by the representative. At the office we proceed to discuss about the travel plans and introduce the trek guide through a meeting. We recommend you to bring your passport along with 3 passport sized photos and a readable copy of the travel insurance to swiftly proceed with permit papers and other arrangements. During the meet, you can also ask the guide and the manager any questions regarding the trip. Any overdue balance is to be cleared along with the filling of legally binding trip form and non-liability disclaimer form. Overnight stay in a hotel (Bed And Breakfast).


Day 02: Drive Kathmandu – Bhulbhule (840m) by tourist bus (6 hrs)

In the morning, we leave our guest house for Bhulbhule, and we pass the Trishuli River, as well as we see the Marsyangdi River.

Day 03: Start trekking, overnight at Jagat (1300 m, 5hrs)

On the way, we pass a hanging bridge and head towards Bahundanda. Ahead, the trekking trail goes downhill to Syange through paddy fields and leads us to Jagat, a small village of the Tamang and the Gurung people.

Day 04: Dharapani (1860m, 6hrs)

As we head off to Dharapani, we see beehives hanging from the rock; we come across beautiful waterfalls, we see green lake, we walk by the river, and we walk on the edge of the Rocky Mountains.

The trekking trail goes up and down, and donkeys, boulders, and rocks are seen on this trekking trail. It heads off to Dharapani, a small village situated between cliffs.

Day 05: Chame (2760 m)

Today, we hike up to Chame. On the way, we will see a beautiful view of Manaslu and Annapurna II; we keep on walking until we reach the forest of Fir. Later, we get to the capital and headquarter of Manang,

Day 06: Pisang (3200 m, 6hrs)

As we head off to Pisang, we see Lamjung Himal [6893m] and the breathtaking sunrise over this himal, as well as we will see a beautiful waterfall. Pisang lies on the lap of Pisang peak, and Annapurna II is situated to the east of this peak.

Day 07: Kharka Base Camp (4110 m, 6hrs)

Today, we head off to Tilicho lake and continue a short walk up to Yak Kharka, a small settlement. We will ascend towards a little hill and the trekking trail goes behind a hill and reaches Yak Kharka. We will take a rest here and check our climbing gears. We will enjoy a magnificent view of the Annapurna Ranges, Gangapurna, and Tilicho peak.

Day 08: South West Ridge High Camp (5420m, 5.5hrs)

Today we walk for 5 hours and set up our high camp at 5400 m after climbing the south west ridge.

Day 09: Summit Pisang Peak (6091m ,5hrs)

Today is a summit day. From the High Camp, we head off to a steep area, and here the climbing is technical. Our guide will fix the rope and lead us to the summit. After reaching the summit, we will walk down to the base camp.

Day 10: Kharka Base Camp (4370m, 6hrs)

Following the same trekking trail, we head off to the Kharka Base Camp.

Day 11: Lower Pisang (3200m, 3.5hrs)

We head off to Lower Pisang which is more developed than Upper Pisang. From the trekking route, there is no shortage of good views. There is a bridge, and we cross it to enter Lower Pisang. We see Upper Pisang from Lower Pisang. Lower Pisang is a beautiful valley.

Day 12: Manang (3440 m 6 hrs)

Today, we will trek to Manang village, walking by the river. Here, we notice a contrast in the landscapes. There is a breathtaking view of the Himalayas. Manang is a great Mt. Valley, and it has rich customs & traditions.

Day 13: Yak Kharka (4018 m 4 hrs)

Today’s trek is not that difficult compared to previous treks. The trekking trail is not that rocky, and the view from Yak Kharka is breath-taking.

Day 14: Thorong Phedi (4500 m 4 hrs)

We start today’s trek by walking uphill to Thorang Phedi. After this, we cross a suspension bridge and reach Ledar village. Then we ascend and pass through towering cliffs before we reach Thorang Phedi, Today, we will also see the amazing view of Mt. Gundang, Mt. Syagang, Thorung peak, and Mt. Khatungkan.

Day 15: Cross Thorong - La (5415 m) and trek to Muktinath (3800 m 8 hrs)

Today, we wake up early in the morning to cross the Thorong La Pass; we walk from east to west that is Manang to Muktinath which is the easiest and safest route.
From the foothill of the Thorong La Pass, we take a few photos before heading to the Muktinath valley. Muktinath is one of most important destinations for the Hindus pilgrimage. It is also an important destination for the Buddhists.

Day 16: Kagbeni (2810 m 4 hrs)

Today, we walk downhill to Kagbeni. After 30 minutes’ walk from Muktinath, we will reach Jharkot, a village whose culture and tradition are similar to those of Tibet. It is one of the best villages for a landscape. We head off to Kagbeni to spend a night.

Day 17: Jomsom (2720 m 4 hrs)

Today, we will walk through the sand bar of the Kali Gandaki River. We will see fossils by the riverside. The wind blows strongly in the Kali Gandaki Valley. Jomsom is the head quarter of Mustang, and it is inhabited by the Thakali people. We visit the Ecological museum of Jomsom which gives us information on the old traditional culture, tradition, flora and fauna of the valley.

Day 18: Fly Jomsom – Pokhara and enjoy the Phewa Lake

In the early morning, we get ready for a flight to Pokhara. Aeroplane flies between two high peaks, namely Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. We will visit Phewa lake in the afternoon at Pokhara to enjoy with its natural side and over night stay at hotel in pokhara. You can also take 45 min flight back to Kathmandu at same day connection from Jomsom if you do not have time to explore in Pokhara Valley.

Day 19: Drive Pokhara – Kathmandu by tourist bus and transfer to Hotel (7 hrs)

From Pokhara, we drive to Kathmandu.

Day 20: Kathmandu – leisure day and evening farewell dinner

In the evening, we will be invited for a farewell dinner with cultural show.

Day 21: Departure to connect next destination or we may extend the trip as per our desire and time

We are picked up from the hotel and transferred to Tribhuwan International Airport three hours before our flight.
